Serious crisis hit Spain camp as big player contracts COVID-19 as whole squad put on isolation

Sergio Busquets who is the captain of the Spanish national senior men’s team has tested positive for deadly COVID-19 days to the start of the EURO 2020 bringing tension to the camp.

On Friday, June 4, the Barcelona superstar captained his nation against Portugal in a friendly match which ended in goalless draw before contracting the virus over the weekend.

According to the report on UK Sun and BBC, Sergio Busquets has been ordered to isolate himself together with all the players and staff he had contact with before he tested positive.

However, the report added that the rest of the Spain squad tested negative for the virus which is a cheering news for all Spaniards ahead of their campaign for the EURO 2020.

On Tuesday, June 8, Spain will be facing Lithuania in another international friendly game which will be their last tie before facing Sweden in opening encounter in the European championship.

The Spanish Football chiefs explained that preparations for the EURO 2020 will continue as they wished their captain Sergio quick recovery.

“The RFEF regrets to announce that its captain Sergio Busquets has given a positive result in the last PCR test that was carried out this morning on the national team in Las Rozas.

“The rest of the members have all tested negative.”
